If you love Fuji music, then you’re no doubt familiar with King Wasiu Ayinde.
Olasunkanmi Wasiu Ayinde Marshal popularly known as K1 De Ultimate and also as Igi Jegede, is a Nigerian Fuji musician born on March 3, 1957.
“He is known for introducing the genre to the sounds of keyboards, saxophones and guitars and making the genre a danceable tune, that appeals to all age group, irrespective of tribe and background.”
K1 De Ultimate discovered his interest in music when he was only 8 years old! As is usually the case with parents, they initially opposed his decision to go into music, but he continued to pursue his passion and at age 15 he had won various local musical competitions.
Lesson: never give up on what you’re passionate about, ever.
He released his first solo album with a special track ‘Abode Mecca’ in 1980, and his most successful album Talazo 84′ in 1984.
Alhaji Wasiu has won numerous music awards and titles: Dr of Music at Saint John University Bakerfield California Usa in 1989, In 1993, he was crowned as King of Fuji, (Oluaye Fuji Music in General) at NTA Ibadan, Oluomo of lagos by King Adeyinka oyekan of Lagos in 1999 and many more achievements to his name.
In 2013, he won the The Headies Hall Of Fame award and City People’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
